Absa Bank Ghana’s Human Capital Department has donated to the Akropong School for the Blind as part of its celebrations for International HR Day 2024.

This gesture continues a 15-year legacy of partnership, highlighting the bank’s commitment to fostering educational development and inclusivity.

The donation includes thirty student desks and chairs in response to the school’s need for additional furniture to accommodate its growing student population.

This donation aims to create a more conducive learning environment, allowing students to achieve their academic potential comfortably.

Over the past decade and a half, the Human Capital department of Absa Bank has consistently supported the Akropong School for the Blind, contributing both financial assistance and crucial educational resources.

Last year, the bank donated ten industrial sewing machines to facilitate vocational training at the school. This initiative has enabled the school to become a hub for sewing needs, supplying surrounding schools and institutions, and fostering practical skills development among students.

Additionally, the department has provided scholarships to two students in the school, covering their tuition fees, school uniforms, and essential learning materials, ensuring that these students have everything they need to succeed academically.

Mr. William Easmon, Director of Human Capital at Absa Bank Ghana, expressed his enthusiasm about the ongoing partnership with the school.
“Our commitment to the Akropong School for the Blind is a testament to Absa’s dedication to supporting initiatives that empower and uplift communities. By equipping the next generation with the necessary resources and skills, we are investing in a brighter, more inclusive future. We are honoured to be part of the journey of these incredible students and look forward to continuing our support in the years to come”, he said.

Over the past few years, Absa Bank Ghana has actively incorporated volunteerism into its corporate activities, showing a dedication to enhancing society and ensuring that its business strategies align with community needs.

Through its Employee Volunteerism initiative, various units of Absa Bank have undertaken projects that have significantly impacted communities over the years.

The bank’s tagline, “Your Story Matters,” emphasises this focus, highlighting its dedication to the diverse stories of all stakeholders, including employees, clients, and community members.
