Assistant Secretary at the Office of the President, Ibrahim Adjei has urged business owners to prioritize security when transporting large sums of money.

He recommended that businesses refrain from assigning employees to carry large cash amounts and instead utilize bullion vans designed specifically for secure transportation.

He pointed out that relying on staff for cash transport can pose significant risks, as criminals may exploit insider knowledge. He encouraged businesses to schedule regular pickups with bullion van services, which are widely available and can be easily found online.

He stressed that although bullion vans are not everywhere, they are accessible enough to meet the transportation needs of retailers who typically handle cash only a few times each day.

His remarks come in the wake of the daylight robbery that took place at Adabraka in Accra on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

In addition to advocating for the use of secure money transport, Mr. Adjei emphasized the role of technology in bolstering public safety. He expressed satisfaction with the extensive network of CCTV cameras installed across Accra and the country, which are connected to the National Surveillance Centre. This network enables authorities to monitor and track incidents, enhancing their ability to respond to criminal activities.
