The Adentan Circuit Court has remanded Evans Eshun, popularly known on social media as Ebo Noah, into police custody and ordered him to undergo a psychiatric evaluation at a government facility before his next court appearance.
The ruling was made by Her Honour Angela Attachie, who directed that Eshun reappear in court on January 15, 2026.
Ebo Noah, a 33-year-old private security guard, faces charges related to a series of social media videos he posted between August and December 2025 on Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube under the handle @Ebonoah. In the videos, he claimed that a global flood would occur on December 25, 2025, and that he was building an “ark” to save people.
The prosecution contends that these statements were made without lawful authority and intended to incite fear and panic among the public.
The Ghana Police Service, the complainant in the case, said Eshun was arrested on December 31, 2025, following an intelligence-led operation at Weija-Gbawe in the Greater Accra Region.
During investigations, Ebo Noah reportedly admitted in a cautioned statement to producing and circulating the videos but clarified that the boat he referred to as an “ark” belonged to a fisherman at a boatyard in Edina, Central Region, not him. He also admitted that his claims of an impending flood were false.
Eshun is being tried for publication of false news with the intent to cause fear and panic. The case has been adjourned to January 15, 2026.
