Admit failure and accept help from experienced NDC – Gov’t advised

Member of Parliament (MP) for the Kintampo North Constituency, Joseph Kumah, has advised the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to humbly admit their failure to strengthen the country’s economy.

According to the MP, the failure of the NPP is evident in the country’s current economic woes. He indicated that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has the solution to the country’s current economic situation, a fact well known by the NPP “but their pride is causing them to refuse our help.”

“The NDC has led Ghana well and more in terms of years than the NPP. This means we have more experience in managing the economy and affairs of the state than the NPP. Aside from the NDC having experience from making the economy strong after the gulf crisis and its associated fuel hikes, we have three finance ministers with a wealth of knowledge and experience,” he told Samuel Eshun on the Happy Morning Show.

He indicated with this expertise and knowledge at hand, the NDC has time and again appealed to the ruling NPP for a sit-down and knowledge sharing retreat for an end to the country’s economic crisis “but they have refused.”

With Ghana a beloved of both parties, the politician has expressed shock over the ruling party’s consistent refusal to heed to their (NDC’s) calls.

Ghana’s annual inflation rate accelerated for the 17th straight month to 40.4% in October of 2022, up from 37.2% in September. It was the highest reading since July of 2001 and well above the top of the central bank’s target band of 6% to 10%, amid a strong depreciation of the cedi during the month.

The ruling government has consistently blamed the country’s worsening economic woes on the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russian-Ukraine crisis.
