Adu Boahene Case: I don’t want to eat a meal which is not cooked- Ataa Akyea

Head of Legal Counsel for former National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu Boahene, Samuel Atta Akyea has fiercely condemned the prosecution of his client, calling it a “travesty of justice.

Speaking to journalists outside the Accra High Court, Atta Akyea voiced concern over procedural fairness, asserting that his client’s liberty was being “played with” by legal maneuvering.

His frustration escalated as the court ruled to remand Adu Boahene into custody at the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) for seven working days, allowing prosecutors time to complete witness statements.

Adu Boahene and his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, along with Mildred Donkor and Advantage Solutions Limited, are facing 11 charges including stealing, money laundering, defrauding by false pretenses, and willfully causing financial loss.

Prosecutors allege that Adu Boahene transferred GHS 49 million (approximately $7 million) from the NSB’s accounts into his personal account, fraudulently claiming the transactions were payments for cyber defense software from an Israeli firm.

“I don’t want to eat a meal which is not cooked,” Atta Akyea remarked, insinuating that the prosecution was rushing proceedings without complete evidence.

Despite the controversy, the court has set May 13, 2025, as the next hearing date, where new directions on the case will be issued.
