The Minority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has urged officials of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to adopt a more measured approach when handling matters, rather than resorting to “Rambo-style” tactics.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, following the return of the former Deputy Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Gifty Oware Mensah, amid an ongoing investigation into a ghost names scandal at the NSA, Mr. Afenyo-Markin emphasized that NIB officials should have engaged with the relevant caucus before taking a heavy handed approach.

“They can reach out to some of us, sometimes this rambo style thing doesn’t help. If you want to invite somebody, you can invite the person and if the person is a public official then there is no problem,” he said.

He suggested that if the NIB intends to investigate someone, they could simply invite the individual, allowing them to attend with their lawyer or on their own, to answer questions related to the issue.

If necessary, the person could be granted bail or required to report for further investigation in an orderly and peaceful manner.
