Minister of State Designate at the Energy Ministry, Herbert Krapah has provided assurance that government is dedicated to minimizing the effects of a scheduled release of excess water from the Akosombo dam, ensuring the safety and well-being of affected communities.

The Volta River Authority (VRA) has alerted stakeholders regarding the potential spillage of the Akosombo dam. Meanwhile, Herbert Krapah, during his parliamentary vetting on Tuesday, acknowledged the devastating consequences of last year’s spillage and assured that valuable lessons have been learnt. He committed to applying these insights to mitigate the impact of future spillages, minimizing harm to affected communities.

Herbert Krapah affirmed that the Volta River Authority (VRA) will proceed with stakeholder engagements and public sensitization efforts, while the Ministry and central government will collaborate closely to guarantee the successful implementation of VRA’s plan. This plan aims to mitigate the spill’s impact and ensure the dam’s integrity, as scheduled.
