Global InfoAnalytics has projected victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Bernard Bediako, in the upcoming Akwatia by-election slated for Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
The survey, conducted between August 27 and 28 with a sample size of 2,050 registered voters across the constituency, places Bediako ahead of his closest contender, Solomon K. Asumadu of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to the final poll results, Bediako secured 53% of voter support, while Asumadu followed with 47%, positioning the NDC candidate as the frontrunner heading into election day.
The by-election was necessitated by the passing of the NPP’s Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Ernest Kumi, on July 7, which created the parliamentary vacancy.
The poll findings further suggest that voter choices are influenced not only by party allegiance but also by pressing concerns such as unemployment, economic hardship, and access to social amenities issues that have dominated the campaign.
Global InfoAnalytics, however, cautioned that undecided voters could play a decisive role, either solidifying Bediako’s advantage or tightening the race in favour of the NPP’s Asumadu.
