Former Trade Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen is set to make a significant announcement about his political future today, leaving Ghanaians in suspense as they eagerly await the revelation.

After his unexpected withdrawal from the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer race, the nation has been abuzz with various theories and speculations about his next steps.

Fellow Countrymen and women,
Tomorrow, Monday, September 25, I will hold a press conference at 2:00 PM at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra.#AlanSpeaks pic.twitter.com/efTn8aJGZm

— Alan John Kyerematen (@AlanKyerematen) September 24, 2023

Mr. Kyerematen, who narrowly missed securing the NPP’s flagbearer position, withdrew from the race amidst allegations of bias within the party’s leadership in favour of a specific candidate. Despite initially finishing third in the selection process, which trimmed the candidate pool from ten to five contenders, Kyerematen’s decision to step back from the November 4 congress sent shockwaves through the political landscape.

There is mounting speculation that Alan Kyerematen might choose to distance himself from the NPP and embark on a path toward the presidency as an independent candidate. However, the veil of uncertainty surrounding his next move will be lifted later today when he unveils his intentions during a scheduled press conference.

Political analysts and party members alike are keenly watching this announcement, with some suggesting that Kyerematen may decide to continue his political journey within the NPP. There is also the possibility that he might throw his support behind one of the remaining four candidates vying for the coveted flagbearer position. Amid these speculations, Ghana eagerly awaits the pivotal decision that will shape the country’s political landscape in the coming months. Stay tuned for updates as this story unfolds.
