Former Member of Parliament for Suame Constituency, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, has revealed that a large number of council members from the New Patriotic Party opted to continue preparations for the party’s delegates conference, despite remarks made by Former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, speaking to Bismark Brown, host of Happy 98.9FM’s Epa Hoa Da Ben, revealed that the statesman’s comments about being sidelined by the New Patriotic Party despite his contributions initially raised thoughts of postponing the conference among council members at a recent meeting.
However, careful deliberations that followed outlined several factors as viable reasons to proceed with the official party gathering. “When we got there, a number of people were saying that we should postpone the conference because of what Ex-President Kufuor said, but after a few discussions, they realized that there would be a lot of problems for the party.”
The Council member added that members of the council predominantly agreed to carry on with preparations as initially planned. “If we were to vote, at least 90%; between 90-95% of council members gave a nod to staying on track and preparing for the gathering which would take place on Saturday.”
The New Patriotic Party National Delegates Conference is set to take place on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
