ANOTHER BLOW: Yanked GFA vice capo George Afriyie set to be sacked from CAF position

Ashanti Regional Football Association Chairman Osei Tutu Agyemang is set to be named as the vice-president of Ghana Football Association following the sacking of George Afriyie, with the Liberty Professionals director expected to be sacked from his role at CAF, Happyghana.com can reveal.

Afriyie was removed as the second most powerful person in Ghana football on Tuesday after an Executive committee meeting.

The decision of the football administrator to contest his boss as has largely viewed as a betrayal of trust, leading to his overwhelming dismissal by the country’s powerful Executive committee.
Information reaching Happy FM suggest that Osei Tutu Agyemang could be appointed as the new man to take over the mantle from Mr Afriyie barring an unforeseen contingencies.
Osei Tutu, who is known in the football fraternity as ‘Kotoro’, is a staunch supporter and loyalist of the current FA boss, is believed to be the front-runner for the  vacant position.
But the troubles of Mr Afriyie appears to be far from over with widespread reports he could be relieved off his duty by CAF on his role as a member of the powerful Africa Cup of Nations Committee.
Issues about trust and loyalty has led to a massive friction between Mr Afriyie and his boss after he sent a damning text message, claiming Mr Nyantakyi is ‘greedy and wicked’.
Several aficionados have insisted Mr Afriyie should have taken a bow immediately after insulting his boss in the most unprintable of words.
But he kept his post only for him to be yanked out by the Executive Committee on Tuesday.
Afriyie was chosen by Nyantakyi to be the Ghana FA vice president despite interest from several members of the Executive Committee and doubts from several interests in the football fraternity.
He was also recently submitted to CAF to serve on the powerful Africa Cup of Nations committee.
Afriyie officially announced his intention to contest the 2019 GFA Presidential Elections during his birthday party last month but Yankah says Afriyie should have shown deference to his boss.
There has been recent rifts among the two leaders of Ghana football with Nyantakyi loyalists claiming that Afriyie had been plotting to undermine him – claim the latter has denied.
Despite these claims Nyantakyi went ahead to propose to CAF to appoint Afriyie to one of the strongest committee within the continent’s governing body as he serves on the Africa Cup of Nations committee.
The former Chief Executive Officer of Accra Great Olympics has declared his intention to contest for the Ghana FA post in 2019 during the celebration of his 50th birthday celebration.
Kwesi Nyantakyi has the full backing of the ruling government machinery and major stakeholders of the game despite insisting he may not seek re-election in 2019.
Pressure is mounting on the FIFA Council member to reconsider his decision with CAF boss Ahmad waging into the controversy.
The Madagascar ace is urging his right hand man to seek re-election amid the widespread clarion pressure on him to do so.
It’s unclear if Mr Nyantakyi will succumb to the pressure to seek a fourth term in office.
There have been a grand media agenda to demonize Mr Nyantakyi in the local media, but only 123 delegates will have the final say next year if he decides to re-contest.
