Executive Board Chairman of Asante Kotoko, Dr Kwame Kyei has agreed to write off the debt of $1.5million owed him by the club, as reported by Kumasi-based Nhyria FM.

Dr Kwame Kyei presented his financial report to Manhyia which revealed a debt of $1.5million accrued during the three years he has been in charge of the club.

The Executive Board Chairman after meeting the Professor Lydia Nkansah committee has relieved the club from paying the said amount.

Dr Kwame Kyei has single-handedly financed the club during his tenure and reports are rife he may get to keep his post after the committee’s work.

His tenure has seen Asante Kotoko compete in Africa club competition where they reached the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup in 2018 under coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor.

Kotoko won the 2017 MTN FA Cup and the Tier 1 Special Competition which they qualified to play in the CAF Champions League group stage.
