Asante Kotoko have booked their place in the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup final following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea in the semifinal over the weekend at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa.
In a cagey first half, both sides had chances but lacked the cutting edge. The breakthrough finally came in the second half when Albert Amoah calmly slotted home what proved to be the match-winner, sending the Porcupine Warriors into the final.
The result marks a major milestone for head coach Abdul Karim Zito, who now has the chance to lift his first trophy with Kotoko. His side showed discipline and tactical maturity to fend off a late push from Chelsea, who couldn’t find a way back into the game.
Samuel Boadu, the former Hearts of Oak coach now leading Berekum Chelsea, saw his side’s spirited cup run come to an end in disappointment.
Kotoko will now face Division One underdogs Golden Kick SC in the final—a golden opportunity for the Reds to end their season with silverware and secure qualification for continental competition.
