The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has agreed to facilitate the mediation process in the ongoing conflict in Bawku, emphasizing that the country cannot afford to let the fight undermine its unity and progress.

The Asantehene made this statement during a meeting with a government delegation led by Defense Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

The meeting aimed to address the conflict in the Bawku region, which has resulted in the loss of many lives and the displaced thousands of people, as well as significantly hindering development in the area.

Expressing his deep concern about the conflict’s potential to destroy the nation’s unity and progress, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II called on all parties involved to put aside their differences and work towards finding a peaceful solution.

“The country cannot afford to let this fight destroy our unity and progress”.

Meanwhile, the Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah indicated that the government is actively working to resolve the conflict through a combination of military and diplomatic efforts.

According to him, the government is engaging with various parties involved in the conflict to find a lasting solution.
