Ashaiman poised to combat road indiscipline

The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) in Ashaiman has inaugurated a welfare committee to bring sanity into the transport sector.

Six branches out of eight came together to form this committee per the directive from the Regional Secretariat.

In an interview with the newly elected chairman of the committee Emmanuel Agbenyo, he explained the intent of forming the committee is to bring sanity into the road sector and also to form a tax force to assist the police fight indiscipline on the roads.

Mr. Emmanuel said his priority would be to register floating vehicles into unions for proper scrutinizing and also to educate drivers to obey rules and regulations.

The MTTD Commander for Ashaiman Sup. Issac Forson on his part cautioned drivers to take charge of their mates and spoke on the mode of dressing for the drivers.

He added the tax force introduced is not there to intimidate the drivers but to compliment the work of the police

Meanwhile, Station Officer for the Ashaiman Fire station Mr. Rollen Tengey also called on drivers to purchase the right extinguishers to prevent any fire outbreak.
