The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has denied allegations linking him to illegal mining activities, describing the claims as false, baseless, and intended to mislead the public.
The allegations he said were made on Aluta FM (92.1 MHz) during an interview hosted by Agyaba Kwaku with Mr. Wendell Yeboah, Head of Mobilisation at Democracy Hub, on Tuesday, 18 November 2025. Mr. Yeboah reportedly claimed that the Minister was involved in illegal mining.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the Regional Minister stated categorically that he has never engaged in any form of illegal mining, urging the public to disregard what he termed as an unfounded accusation.
“My lawyers have commenced formal steps to require Mr. Yeboah and Aluta FM to provide evidence to support their accusation or take immediate action to retract the statement and issue an appropriate apology. Failure to comply will result in legal proceedings being initiated against them,” he stated.
Dr. Amoakohene further reaffirmed his commitment to the national fight against illegal mining, noting that he remains dedicated to serving the Ashanti Region and Ghana with integrity and transparency.
The Minister emphasized that he will continue to discharge his duties with “unwavering dedication to the public good,” despite what he described as attempts to tarnish his reputation.
