A sick AshantiGold defence allowed RS Berkane to score two quick second half goals to deny their side a resounding victory against the Moroccans.

The Moroccans had tactically come to play a frustrating game against the miners with early minute delays to the game.

A much more compact Berkane side packed more men in defence, and gave no chance AshantiGold lads to dominate play.

Coach Ricardo Da Rocha switched play, and allowed his boys to resort to long searching balls to outwit their opponents.

The strategy worked out for the Aboakese lads who got the opener through Eric Donkoh’s volley from a James Akaminko long range pass in the 15th minute.

The goal did not unsettle the Moroccan’s as they kept their composure and controlled the game in the midfield.

AshantiGold came close to scoring again in the 20th minute when Appiah MacCarthy’s free kick from the edge of the box hit the upright to deny them the second goal.

Just when everyone thought the first half was going to end on the one goal note, Shafiu Mumuni worked on a solo effort in the goal area of RS Berkane, and run through three men to slot in from close range.

Back into the second half and Ashantigold gold will press for the third goal in the early minutes but had the shock of their lives when RS Berkane reduced the scores with a Mohammed Aziz header in the 50th minute of the game

Both teams produced two two quick goals within 2 minutes with Hamdi Laachir scoring for Berkane in the 57th minute, and Amos Addai restoring the lead for AshantiGold in the 59th minute.

AshantiGold dsme close to scoring more goals but efforts from Kwadwo Amoako, Amos Addai, and Eric Donkoh all missing narrowly.
