Asiedu Nketia criticizes Sam George over comments on Ablekuma North Violence

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has criticized the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, and Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, over his recent comments following the violence that erupted during the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun on Friday, July 11, 2025.

Sam George, in a Facebook post on the same day, took a swipe at former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for condemning the incident.

He questioned Dr. Bawumia’s moral standing to speak on the matter, pointing to his silence during a similar violent at the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election in 2019, where Sam George himself was assaulted.

However, in an interview monitored by HappyGhana.com, Asiedu Nketia stated that no individual, including politicians, has the right to justify violence or encourage retaliation, regardless of past personal experiences.

He described Sam George’s remarks as emotionally driven and cautioned against using past incidents to rationalize present-day misconduct.

The NDC Chairman further urged state institutions to discharge their duties impartially, stressing the need to restore public trust in law enforcement and the judiciary in order to prevent the recurrence of instant justice or public disorder.
