The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has urged party members in Afrancho-Akomadan in the Offinso North Constituency, of the Ashanti Region, to focus on policies and long-term vision rather than financial incentives from the opposition parties when making their voting decisions.
He emphasized that accepting money in exchange for votes undermines the potential for genuine development and warned that such short-term choices could negatively impact the community’s progress.
Speaking during his first day of the NDC’s Retail Campaign in the Ashanti Region on November 4, Asiedu Nketiah urged voters to support candidates who are dedicated to sustainable growth and effective governance for the benefit of the constituency.
He argued that if voters are solely interested in receiving money and gifts, they are missing out on crucial developmental projects. He questioned how true progress could be made when funds are squandered to secure votes instead of being invested in meaningful initiatives.
“We will equally share monies and goodies if that is what you want instead of using that for developmental projects. How will there be development? They have enough to spend on and yet, use the meagre to get you to vote for them,” he stated.
Asiedu Nketiah pointed out that anyone who fails to recognize the development projects the NDC has implemented in the Ashanti Region is likely ignoring the positive changes taking place. He noted that these projects benefit the entire community.
He stressed that if the opposition continues to distribute money based on status without contributing to community development, voters who choose them are only perpetuating the same ineffective practices.
