
Government is moving forward with its plan to provide monthly allowances to Assembly Members, and as part of the process, the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has instructed all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to submit relevant details of Assembly Members in their jurisdiction.
In a directive issued on April 30, 2025, the Ministry emphasized the urgency of this exercise, referencing Page 73, Section 395 of the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy, which outlines provisions for these payments.
Officials have been directed to use a standardized template and submit the necessary details via email to the Decentralisation Unit, with copies sent to Mr. Samuel Passah at samuel.passah@mlgrd.gov.gh by Friday, May 9, 2025.
To prevent delays, local assemblies have been urged to prioritize this task.
The initiative is part of the government’s broader Resetting Agenda, aimed at strengthening local governance and improving support for Assembly Members.
