Following the news of the death sentence passed on Maryam Sanda who was convicted for killing her husband, many Nigerians have taken to social media to react. According to reports, she stabbed her husband after finding intimate photos of another woman on his phone.

Police PRO, Dolapo Badmus, reacting to this, took to her Instagram page to advice women against going through their partners’ phones. According to her, women need to do this to avoid discovering things that’d hurt them and push them to do things the’d regret.

She wrote: “Ladies, If you are married or you are in a relationship! Avoid checking your husband’s/partner’s phone! Someone once told me that hardly will you find a Nigeria man that doesn’t cheat. But does it mean all Nigerian men cheats?! So what is the essence of checking a phone that will aggravate your Bp, cause you sadness and make you put up a fight that might turn deadly?!”

“Why?! Always imagine it that you are the only one in his life and every other person is a counterfeit….if you know you don’t have strength to withstand any negativity you find on his phone please don’t check! To avoid what can cause havoc! If you can’t cope please separate, after separation if you still cannot cope please divorce…..Don’t let what they will tag “simple” shatter your life and turn you to a murderer…..Domestic violence is dangerous! Avoid it! If you are encountering domestic violence and you need help please dial *6820#,” she added.

Also reacting to the sad story is a Nigerian lawyer identified as Chide Ogudu. He advised men to make sure they get caught cheating twice or thrice by the woman they intend to marry to know if she has the spirit of forgiveness.

According to him, real love is forgiveness. The man, who shared the advice on Facebook, also shared another post to claim that African men have the right to cheat. Ogudu claimed that there is nothing like cheating in African culture. He said the word cheating is an English word and it has nothing to do with Africans.
