The NADMO Director for Awutu Senya West, Rayback Adams Salifu, has issued a stern warning that buildings constructed in waterlogged areas will be demolished to prevent flooding.
Salifu stated that since assuming office, he has received numerous complaints about flooding caused by illegal structures blocking waterways.
He emphasized that this serves as the first warning, and next time, machines will be deployed to demolish structures that obstruct proper drainage.
During a tour of the Awutu Papaase area, accompanied by the former NADMO director and a team from Works and Housing, Salifu urged the Regional NADMO Director, Kwasi Daweod, and the National NADMO Director to provide operational vehicles to enhance disaster management efforts.
Additionally, Deputy District NADMO Director George Enoch Doodu pledged to relocate a refuse dump from the centre of Awutu Papaase to prevent the spread of diseases in the community.
This move aligns with broader NADMO efforts to clear unauthorized structures blocking waterways across Ghana in a bid to mitigate flooding risks.
