Head coach of the Black Satellites Jimmy Cobblah has lavished praises on his players following their 2-0 win over Algeria in the penultimate round of the Africa Youth Championship qualifiers on Sunday.
The one-time world champions welcomed the Fennec Foxes to the Cape Coast Sports Stadium with the aim of picking the sole ticket to the next phase of the Africa Youth Championship after playing a goalless draw in Algiers last week.
Midfielder Mohammed Kudus opened the scoring in the 36th with a beautifully struck shot from outside the box.
Highly-rated Ibrahim Sadiq doubled the lead at the start of the second half with a brilliant solo run before applying a flawless finish past the Algerian goalkeeper.
Speaking to Odiasempa Kwame Oware on Happy FM‘s Anopa Bosuo Sports, Coach Cobblah heaped adulation on his team’s performance in the match.
“First of all I will thank all who wished us well ahead of the match,” Cobblah told Happy FM.
“It was a very tough game, we were aware of their quality before the game so I’m not surprised by the competition they gave us. When we went there last week, we tried everything to score but it wasn’t to be but coming back home we knew if we can push a bit we will end up victorious.”
“I’m delighted for the boys because they played really well, they heeded to the tactics we practiced in training. They were so disciplined.
