Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine has pushed back against mounting criticism that his office is engaging in selective prosecution.
Addressing the public at the Government Accountability Series today, July 28, 2025, he insisted that every decision he’s made reflects a deep commitment to legal integrity not political favoritism.
Several cases, including the Saglemi Housing Project and the ambulance procurement trial, were dropped due to defective charges or lack of clarity, according to Ayine. Others like the fertilizer scandal involving Dr. Stephen Opuni were discontinued because of reasonable doubt surrounding the accused’s guilt.
Ayine also acknowledged withdrawing from prosecutions where he had previously served as defense counsel, citing ethical concerns. This includes cases against prominent figures such as Cassiel Ato Forson and Samuel Ofosu Ampofo.
The AG raised alarm about judicial conduct, pointing to instances where judges allegedly ignored exculpatory evidence or showed bias interfering with the pursuit of fair justice.
“If officials from the ruling NDC cross the line, I won’t hesitate to act,” Ayine declared, reinforcing that his standards for prosecution apply regardless of political affiliation.
His parting message? “Let my actions speak.”
