Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, has thanked God, his supporters, and fellow contestants following his victory in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary for the Ayawaso East Constituency.
Speaking after the results were declared on Saturday, February 7, 2026, Baba Jamal described the campaign period as intense and emotionally demanding for himself, his family, and his supporters.
He attributed his success to the grace of God, expressing gratitude for the strength and guidance that carried him through what he described as a difficult and hectic process.
He extended his appreciation to the presidency, members of the media, ministers, parliamentarians, party members, and the people of Ayawaso East. He paid special tribute to his campaign team, commending them for executing an aggressive and effective campaign within a limited two-week period.
Baba Jamal also congratulated his fellow aspirants, emphasizing that the victory was not a personal achievement but a collective win for the NDC. He noted that internal party contests are inherently competitive and must produce a winner.
He called on all contestants to rally behind him to unite the party and work tirelessly toward winning the upcoming by-election. According to him, the contest brought out the best in him and would further strengthen his resolve to retain the seat for the party.
