The Former Akwatia Member of Parliament, Baba Jamal, has reminded New Juaben South MP, Michael Okyere Baafi, to stand by his vow to resign from Parliament should the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lose the Akwatia by-election.
Mr. Okyere Baafi had earlier declared during the one-week observance of the late Akwatia MP, Ernest Kumi, that he would step down if the NPP failed to reclaim the seat, expressing confidence in his party’s chances.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, September 2, Baba Jamal stressed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would hold him accountable for his words if the NPP is defeated.
“I’m saying that I’ll be extremely surprised, we’ve done our work, if we win fine. Because in politics surprises will never end. So, if you come and say that you’ll resign, if that’s what he said, I’m telling you we are going to hold him to that,” he stated.
He noted that the lawmaker’s integrity was at stake and warned that Ghanaians would no longer trust him if he went back on his promise.
