Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has thanked hundreds of New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth organisers who picked and delivered his presidential nomination forms on Wednesday, August 13.
Speaking after receiving his nomination forms, he announced that, most of the party’s youth organizers urged him to contest.
“490 out of 552 came to me and requested. The leadership came and requested that they wanted to put their might together and pick my forms for me. I agreed because that was a remarkable vote of confidence in me” the 2024 Presidential Candidate for the NPP revealed.
He praised the youth for their energy and commitment to the party’s future.
“The youth are a major asset for our party. They represent the future, and they are assets not only for the party alone but for the nation,” Dr. Bawumia said.
While stopping short of a formal declaration, Dr. Bawumia hinted at his intention to contest the NPP flagbearership race ahead of the January 2026 primary.
“I am minded to contest for the flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party. I will make a full declaration when I go on to submit the forms handed over to me this morning” Dr. Bawumia promised.
He also called for a respectful, idea-driven campaign.
“We are not in a campaign of insults. It should be about ideas, and that is what will capture the imagination of Ghanaians” he argued.
