Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has announced plans to begin a sensitization tour on the use of solar- powered outboard motors in Tema on Wednesday December 4, 2024.

‘’ On Wednesday, we are going to Tema, we are going to bring all the Chief fishermen so that we demonstrate, so everybody will see how this solar powered outboard motors work’’.

According to him, solar power will help reduce the cost involved in the procurement of premix fuel and the corrupt practices aligned with it.
‘’Our fishermen have a problem with premix fuel and so I have come up with a new idea that because of soo much corruption involved in the premix fuel distribution. Let us move away from premix fuel and go for outboard motors which use solar power to power the outboard motors so our fishermen don’t have to buy premix fuel anymore’’.

He mentioned that, some solar powered outboard motors have started operations in Apam, and would continue in Tema.

‘’We have brought in the solar powered outboard motors. This thing has been done, we did it in Apam’’.

‘’This will help the fishermen to be very rich, because they don’t have to spend a lot of money on it’’ he added.
