Former NPP Presidential candidate and former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is set to officially file his nomination to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the party’s national headquarters in Accra.
The move comes after a wave of support from over 490 NPP youth organisers across the country, who picked up the nomination forms on his behalf earlier this month in a symbolic show of unity and grassroots backing.
In a post on Facebook on Wednesday August 26, 2025, Dr. Bawumia made the announcement.
“Dear members of our cherished New Patriotic Party (NPP: Development in Freedom), I would be submitting and filing my nomination forms tomorrow morning at the Party headquarters.

The NPP’s nomination window closes on August 28, with the presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
