Senior Presidential Advisor to the President, Yaw Osafo-Maafo, has charged all technical students who are currently enjoying the Free Senior High School policy to be competitive in the products they churn out.

According to the Minister, being competitive means being “modernized” and meeting international standards, urging the students to be abreast with happenings in other parts of the world, such as Germany, the United States of America, and the United Kingdom.

He disclosed this during the launch of “National Education Week 22”, which was held at the Accra International Conference Center on Monday, October 10, 2022.

Mr. Osafo-Maafo observed that most products that are made by Ghanaian technical students do not match those of students from other parts of the world, thereby encouraging them to be more innovative and competitive.

The one-time Finance Minister under the John Agyekum Kuffour era, said if the students are promising in the products they churn out, it will compel industries operating within their fields to support and sponsor them in their future endeavors.

“You must always be in touch with industry so that you are not just a classroom,” he emphasized.

He said when industries see their usefulness, they will go to them for solutions to their problems.

“We must go in that direction so that industry will see our usefulness for now and, when happy, they will come to you to find solutions to their problems. They will even invest in you, “Mr. Osafo-Maafo stated.

Mr. Osafo-Maafo also advised them to take up attachment opportunities while in school to help them explore more in their fields of study.
