The National Coordinator of the Computerized Secondary School Placement System (CSSPS) has served notice that because of the flagship policy, Free Senior High Secondary (Free SHS) being rolled out by the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP), most parents want to see their wards admitted into the public secondary schools.
In spite of these many parents do not take keen interest in the choice of secondary for their children during their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) this he claimed is worrying.
Mark Sasu –Mensah made this disclosure on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show hosted by Kwame Afrifa-Mensah on Accra-based Happy FM.
He said because of parents zeal to have their children admitted into the public secondary schools to enable them enjoy the Free SHS policy, the centre will organize sensitization exercises for parents.
He warned parents not to leave the choice of schools in the hands of their wards at the basic levels.
He said a situation of incorrect choice of school can harm the future of the students and thereby prevent them from enjoying the flagship education programme of the NPP government.
According to him, parents should get involved in the choice of secondary school for their children when they are exiting the basic level of education.
He urged parents to send the text messages to 106 to check on the placement levels of their children to enable them benefit from the policy.
