Ghanaian highlife singer and songwriter, Martin King Arthur popularly known as Kofi Kinaata, has disclosed that the Black Stars team getting kicked out of the AFCON tournament instantly depreciated his health drastically.

Speaking on Happy FM’s Wamputu Sports with host, Joe Debrah, he made this revelation. “I fell sick because I thought things would get better. I never expected under any circumstance that the Black Stars would not qualify at least for the Group stages. I believed that could never be our portion”, he lamented.

Kofi Kinaata, further explaining the reason for his disappointment which led to him falling sick, expressed that, “The team that the Black Stars played against is one that I had never even heard of until this AFCON tournament so I don’t think they were a team too hard for the Black Stars and this was a match that I never expected them to lose”

Kofi added that also considering what was at stake, and the boys knowing perfectly well that their victory over the Comoros Island team would have determined their promotion to the next stage, he was looking forward to a hands down win with not less than four goals on the part of the Ghanaian team. However, they disappointed him and the whole country at large, and that was what triggered his sudden illness the exact evening of the defeat.

“I really thought it was a dream or that it was a mistake they had made on the scoreboard. That was when I truly realized anything can happen in a football match”, the opined.

The singer told Joe Debrah that he has been a strong lover of football since childhood and at a point in his life, he was even a footballer. This, he said, is the reason such performances from the Black Stars really get to him.
