Crystal Palace’s dynamic forward, Jordan Ayew, has been awarded the prestigious title of “Player of the Month” for August in a thrilling victory in the supporters’ poll.

The announcement was made following Ayew’s stellar performances in the opening four games of the 2023/24 season.

The Palace No. 9 made a significant impact, showcasing his prowess by contributing three crucial assists during the month.

Ayew’s remarkable assists included setting up Odsonne Edouard’s match-winning goal on the opening day of the season at Sheffield United.

He further proved his skill by assisting Joachim Andersen’s equalizer at Brentford and the pivotal Edouard goal that ignited a dramatic comeback at Plymouth Argyle.

Ayew’s impressive contributions did not go unnoticed by the passionate Palace fans, as he managed to accrue an impressive 29.7% of the supporters’ votes.

His commanding lead in the poll placed him ahead of his teammates, with Joachim Andersen securing second place with 20.4% of the votes and Ebere Eze close behind in third with 18.9%. Jefferson Lerma also received recognition with 17.6% of the votes.

In an exclusive interview with Palace TV, Ayew expressed his joy and gratitude for the award, saying, “It’s been a while – a very long time since I’ve gotten a trophy as well! I’d just like to thank everyone – the fans, the club, and the staff – for supporting me since Roy [Hodgson] has come in.”

Ayew also praised his coach, Roy Hodgson, for his role in his outstanding performances, stating, “He’s been really good to me and putting me into positions where I can express myself and feel more comfortable. He gives me the freedom to express myself, and as a player, that’s all you can ask for.”

With the season still in its early stages, Ayew remains focused on maintaining his excellent form. He concluded, “Every game I try to tell myself that I need to be efficient and make something happen. At the moment, things are going well. It’s still the start of the season, there are still a lot of games to go, and hopefully, it’ll continue.”

Jordan Ayew’s outstanding performances have undoubtedly made him a standout player for Crystal Palace in August.

He was included Ghana team to face CAR in the final round of AFCON qualifiers as the Black can’t afford to drop points come Thursday September 7.
