Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has expressed confidence in the Black Stars’ readiness and morale ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.

Speaking on the team’s preparation, the minister noted that despite the disappointment of missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the players are highly motivated and determined to bounce back stronger.

“The Black Stars are in very high spirits, and the players are showing great commitment in camp. They understand the importance of these qualifiers, and I believe they will give their all to secure Ghana’s place at the World Cup,” he stated.

The team has been in camp at the Accra Sports Stadium since Monday, with 9 players reporting except AJ Auxerre midfielder Elisha Owusu, who withdrew due to injury. He has been replaced by Belgium-based Lawrence Agyekum, who has received his maiden call-up.

Coach Otto Addo will continue training with the squad until Wednesday before addressing the media on Thursday. Ghana will then host Chad on Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium, hoping to start their qualification campaign on a positive note.

After the game, the team will depart for Morocco, where they will face Madagascar in their second qualifier of the March international window.
