Bibiani Goldstars head coach and former Black Stars player, Frimpong Manso, has expressed disappointment over Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, describing it as a shock to the continent.

“Many African countries will be surprised Ghana didn’t qualify for the 2025 AFCON; I’m sure CAF itself will be surprised because we all know Ghana is a powerhouse of African football. It’s about time we restructure and rebuild. It’s very painful, but it is about time we focus on the World Cup qualifiers. That is what is coming up next, so let’s prepare adequately towards that,” Manso stated in an interview on Happy Sports.

Ghana’s absence from the 2025 AFCON marks a low point for a nation that has been a dominant force in African football.

Ghana will resume qualification matches in March next year. With the World Cup qualifiers on the horizon, Ghana faces a critical period to rebuild confidence, develop a cohesive strategy to reclaim its place as one of Africa’s powerhouses.
