The contingent that represented Ghana in the AFCON 2021 is back in Ghana.

The players according to reports got into the country as early as 3 am from Cameroon where they are a poor showing.

The players according to reports did not pass through the usual arrival hall and were driven from the airport from the tarmac.

Ghana, who are four-time African champions were bundled out of the Africa Cup of Nations at the group stage after losing 3-2 in their final group C game to the Islanders.

The debutants shocked the Black Stars after captain El Fardou Ben Mohammed capitalized on poor defending from the Stars and broke the deadlock after four minutes, and just when Ghana were about finding their way into the game, captain Andre Ayew was sent off for a foul on goalkeeper Ben Moina.

The Stars scored twice through Richmond Boakye Yiadom and Alexander Djiku but poor defending saw Ahmewd Mogni kill the game with five minutes remaining to hand the Black Stars an early exit from the tournament.

Speaking after the match the Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac said: “My target was to qualify Ghana for the World Cup, this AFCON is my primary target”

“I am looking forward to qualifying Ghana for the World Cup in March,” he said.

Ghana are in the final stages of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and will know their opponents in February before the games in March.
