Bournemouth agree deal to sign Antoine Semenyo

Bournemouth agreed a deal to sign Antoine Semenyo at the third time of asking, having seen two previous bids knocked back by Bristol City.

The south-coast club had tabled a £10million ($12.35m) offer for the 23-year-old, an increase on their initial £8million bid.

Bournemouth remained keen on signing Semenyo, who they have been interested in since August, and finally had a bid of £9million plus add-ons accepted. They had already agreed personal terms with the Ghana international

Semenyo, who also attracted the interest of Southampton and Crystal Palace, has five goals and two assists in 22 Championship appearances this season.

Bristol City activated a 12-month option on Semenyo’s contract in December and his deal is set to expire in June 2024.

Bournemouth have already signed Dango Ouattara from Lorient this January, with the 20-year-old forward moving for £20million.

Gary O’Neil’s side had looked set to also bring in Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal, but that move has been threatened by the potential severity of the 21-year-old’s hamstring injury.

Bournemouth return to Premier League action on February 4 with a trip to Brighton & Hove Albion.
