The Confederation of African Football has announced a new set of dates for the U-17 FIFA women’s World Cup qualifiers. The matches for final qualifiers of the U-17 sides were to be played in May but was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic which disrupted football calendar activities on the continent.

Ghana’s U-17 side, the Black Maidens were supposed to face Nigeria’s U-17 side in the final round of the qualifiers in May before COVID-19 hit the continent. The maidens thrashed Liberia 10-0 on aggregate whilst Nigeria beat Guinean U-17 side 11-2 on aggregate.

Since the U17 Women’s World Cup is scheduled from February 17 to March 7, 2021, the following dates have been confirmed to complete the qualifiers:

1st Leg: 30, 31/Oct. or 1/Nov./2020

2nd Leg: 19, 20 or 21/Nov./2020

Africa has three slots for the tournament with Uganda set to battle it out against Cameroon, Ghana will take on Nigeria whilst South Africa locks horns with Morocco.

The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup was supposed to have taken place this year in November but was postponed due to the global pandemic.
The 2021 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be the 7th edition of the U-17 women’s World Cup.

The biennial international women’s youth football tournament will be held in India, which will mark the first time that India has hosted a FIFA women’s football tournament.
