After Dreams FC’s impressive win over Stade Malien in the CAF Confederations Cup, advancing them to the semifinals, coach Abdul Karim Zito shared that he took a chance by playing Abdul Aziz Issah, a key player, in the quarterfinal match.

Dreams FC fought back to draw with Stade Malien in Kumasi, securing a spot in the semifinals after a 2-1 victory in Bamako. The team scored first at the Baba Yara Stadium, with Sylvester Simba equalizing to secure a draw at home.

Despite being just 18 years old, Abdul Aziz Issah has been gaining attention for his impressive football skills, scoring 10 goals in his last 12 matches for Dreams FC across all competitions.

Due to his outstanding performance, Dreams FC topped Group C and advanced to the final four of the 2023-24 CAF Confederation Cup.

They are the first Ghanaian side to reach the semis of the CAF Confederation Cup, since Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko did so back in 2005, in the maiden edition of the competition.

“Aziz wasn’t fully fit before our game against Stade Malien in Kumasi…But it was a risk I was willing to take knowing very well he wasn’t fully fit and the game plan worked ”Zito said in an interview on Happy FM’s Happy Sports with Ohene Bampoe Brenya.

Dreams FC will face Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek in the semifinals, with the first leg in Egypt on April 21, 2024, and the return leg in Kumasi on April 28, 2024.
