MP-elect for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, has expressed frustration over being perceived primarily as an entertainer rather than a politician.

According to him, being a Member of Parliament (MP) is all about representing the people of the Ayawaso West Constituency citing Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who was once a comedian before a politician as an example.

The actor emphasized that serving as an MP is not about one’s profession but about effectively representing the people.

In a recent interview he said, “When people make such statements I see it as a bit disrespectful because you have lawyers, doctors, you have businessmen in parliament at a point in time we even had hairdressers in parliament but it’s about representing your people…”.

He highlighted the significance of entertainers, pointing out that many politicians rely on them during campaigns because of their influence.

“For me, that stigma is just one of those things that when people say it, I just laugh about it. All in all, it is for us to be in parliament and, succeed and represent the people well” he emphasized.
