The Minority in Parliament is demanding the immediate removal of the Member of Parliament for Terma West and Deputy Minister Trade and Industry for signing a letter charging expatriate business people who want to meet with the president huge sums of money.
The Minority explained that the conduct of the MP to sanction a letter soliciting funds from business people who want to see the president is distasteful and must be condemned.
According to the Minority, this smacks of corruption and the president must take a decision on the minister.
The Minority Chief Whip Ahmed Banda, claimed that the president should remove the Deputy Minister from his position to serve as a deterrent to other ministers.
He said for the Deputy Minister to have threaten the life his colleague Samuel Okudjeto-Ablakwa in the precinct of Parliament is also a serious offense.
Ahmed Banda made this demand on Accra-based Okay FM morning show when he interacted with Kwame Nkrumah Tikesse.
He said the president should use the same yardstick for sacking the Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture when he made his disparaging remarks about the people of the north during the fall Army worm outbreak.
He said if the president fails to relieve the Deputy Minister of his duties, then he may not be setting the right standards in the country.
He admitted that members of the Minority were wrong they fought for the MP when his Assembly, Tema Metropolitan Assembly took the decision to bar him from the Assembly for misconduct.
It is the conduct of the MP to always show abrasiveness even on the floor of Parliament.
He explained that the conduct of the Tema MP of attempting to assault his colleague in the precinct of Parliament is contemptuous.
He claimed they will be meeting as leadership of the house to drag the Minister to the Privileges Committee of parliament.
