The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has officially declared his intention to contest the position of National Chairman of the party.
In a statement announcing his decision, Chairman Wontumi said the NPP is at a critical moment in its history, having faced challenges that require firm, principled, and unifying leadership.
He stressed that the party needs a leader who is deeply rooted in the grassroots and committed to the welfare of all members, from elders to the youth.
“I, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), having consulted my Maker and sought the counsel of party elders, hereby declare my intention to serve as National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party,” he stated, adding that his decision is driven not by personal ambition but by a desire to strengthen, rebuild, and unify the party.
Chairman Wontumi emphasized that leadership at this stage of the party’s development demands courage and sacrifice, including the willingness to make difficult decisions and to risk personal loss for the collective good of the NPP.
According to him, the road ahead will require vision, bravery, and unwavering determination.
He further indicated that his team is prepared for the task ahead, declaring that the party is ready, organized, and equipped for the battles ahead.
He expressed confidence that under decisive leadership, the NPP can restore confidence among its supporters and re-energize its grassroots structures.
Chairman Wontumi said his ultimate goal is to position the NPP for a decisive victory in the 2028 general elections.
“Together, we will restore confidence, empower our grassroots, and position the NPP to win decisively in 2028,” he noted.
