Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo has arrived at the Supreme Court to push back against efforts to remove her from office.
She is seeking an injunction to halt both her suspension and the ongoing impeachment proceedings.
The suspended Chief Justice was spotted with her husband, Francis Torkornoo.
The application, filed on May 21, 2025, argues that the five-member committee investigating her removal should be prevented from continuing its work until the court makes a final determination.
She has also requested that two Supreme Court judges, Gabriel Scott Pwamang and Samuel Kwame Adibu-Asiedu, be barred from participating in hearings due to concerns about impartiality
Justice Torkornoo has raised additional grievances about alleged unfair treatment, including restrictions on her legal counsel’s access to necessary resources and limitations on the hearing venue.
Arriving in court with her husband, Francis Torkornoo, she aims to stop the process that could lead to her removal.
The Supreme Court is set to decide today whether to grant the injunction, a ruling that could significantly impact the judicial landscape.
