Manye Naa Tsotsoo Soyoo ,Queen Mother and President of the National Congress of Ghanaians Union, UK has slammed the child bride arrangement for the Nungua Wulomo.

During an interview Kwadwo Sefah-Danquah held on Happy 98.9FM’s Morning show, clarifies that the criticisms about the recent happenings of the Ga traditions is not to abolish the rites and beliefs but rather the perception about child-marriage as part the Ga .

“I want to clarify that this conversation is not about abolishing Ga culture or customs. It’s about reforming harmful aspects because culture is dynamic. We must reconsider practices that no longer benefit us.

“I am a mother with a young daughter, and I would be concerned if someone proposed marriage to her at age 12. “she added

Nuumo Borketey Laweh XXXIII, the Gborbu Wulomo, faced criticism following the circulation of a video showing his marriage to the 12-year-old girl, Naa Okromo, online.

The traditional marriage ceremony took place on Saturday, March 30, 2024, in Nungua.
