The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has suspended its ongoing strike following an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Friday, March 28, 2025.

The decision was made to allow further discussions aimed at resolving the dispute between the association and key stakeholders.

CLOGSAG began the strike on February 20, protesting the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as the Births and Deaths Registrar.

The group demanded that the position be filled by a civil servant, citing concerns over Mr. Botchway’s alleged political affiliation with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The association argued that appointing a politically affiliated individual compromised civil service neutrality and undermined professionalism in the public sector.

In a statement signed by Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe Addo, CLOGSAG directed all members to resume work on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. This move is expected to restore normalcy in public services, which had been disrupted by the strike.

The association reaffirmed its commitment to achieving industrial harmony while pushing for improved working conditions for its members.

The strike, which affected operations in public utilities and local government services, highlighted longstanding concerns over salary structure implementation.
