Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Graduate Students Association of Ghana(GRASAG), Emmanuel Owusu, has opined that it would be appropriate the University of Ghana make room for consensus than taking a strong stand in fees increment.

According to Mr Owusu who spoke to Samuel Eshun on the Happy Morning Show, “the posist the stance of the university is not helping. I think at this point the consensus building should be what we must consider not a very strong stance that they would not go back on third words.”

He added that, “when that happens, it doesn’t help anybody.”

Tertiary institutions were directed by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to increase their fees by 15%, a decision kicked against by various student groups.

The student groups believe the public tertiary institutions increased the fees by more than the required percentage.

The Public Realtions Officer believes universities must acknowledge that students are the one paying the fees” so in deciding on whatever amount that they want to impose on students they must consider students concern” he said.
