Mechanical Engineer and Mining Consultant, Joseph Orko Obrempong, has opened up on some impacts that the Coronavirus pandemic is having in some fields.

In an interview with host, Nana Yaw Odame on e.TV Ghana’s Men’s Lounge, he noted that there is no data to back his claims but from a personal point of view the lockdown has had a positive impact on family life. He pinpointed how men are no longer leaving home early for work and returning late, hence families are now able to spend time together.

He also admitted that the lockdown has brought unity and has helped form stronger family bonds, even with his family. “Now that we are all home, it is now that I am getting to know the kids very well”, he said.

Discussing the impact Covid-19 is having on businesses, Joseph Orko Oprempong opined, “It is having a big impact. Right now, most of the people I work with are not comfortable going out there to look for business”. He acknowledged there are difficulties and observed that the impact is being felt greatly by the private sector and SMEs.

Talking about its impact on religion, Joseph was of the view that religion should not be affected as the church or the mosque isn’t the only place we can worship God. “When it comes to our personal relationship with God, I don’t think the lockdown is going to have any impact”.

The only impact on religious organisations in his view, is the effect it would have on philanthropic activities, outreach and missions.

Joseph further expressed worry about how some people do not practice social distancing, and advised the general public to heed to health directives so as to help stop the spread. Sharing his closing remarks, he urged, “if you don’t have anything to do in town, stay home”.
