GES releases the 2024/25 academic calendar for Senior High Schools

Information reaching happyghana.com indicates that the government of Ghana will soon order the temporary closure of all Educational Institutions in the country.

The move comes on the back of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the source, the directives which may come into effect from Monday 16th of March 2020 is to limit the spread of the deadly diseases.

Ghana will join countries like Kenya and Rwanda who have also temporally shut down schools because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Already, Some International schools in the country [The German-Swiss International School and The Ghana International School (GIS)] have all shut down following the outbreak.

The University of Ghana has also suspended all lectures following the confirmation of a case of the deadly coronavirus in the University.

Earlier today, Head of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Badu Sarkodie says 4 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed.

This was announced by the government at a press briefing to update citizens on the outbreak of the Novel 2019 (COVID-19) in the country.

Dr. Sarkodie also disclosed that among the two other new cases which came to light on Saturday is a student of the University of Ghana who had been in contact with 12 people.

The Covid-19 was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on Monday after it has affected about 162,578 people and killed more than 6,069.

The deadly virus has spread to over 60 countries across all continents except Antarctica.
