The National Youth Coordinator of the Progress People’s Party, Divine Nkrumah has described the coronavirus outbreak in the country as an eye opener to all Ghanaians.

According to him, the coronavirus proves true what most people have been saying about Ghanaian leaders.

On his authority the coronavirus outbreak shows that indeed our politicians can only take drastic measures and show concern about the safety of its citizens only when they are largely affected by a problem and have nowhere to run to.

“The corona outbreak in Ghana is a lesson we should learn from as a nation. Our leaders are fighting and have taken the virus seriously because they are scared and know the virus is right at their doorsteps. There would’ve sought refuge elsewhere but the virus is everywhere and nowhere is safe. They are forced to stay in the country because Ghana is relatively safer compared to other places,” he said.

On his authority, if the coronavirus was affecting only the young and poor our government wouldn’t have taken the steps they have now.

He added that, even countries which our leaders trust have a better health care delivery systems have their citizens dying. “Our leaders will always fly out of the country for treatment when they’re not feeling well. When President Akufo-Addo or Bawumia is sick, they will fly abroad to seek treatment. Even the late President Mills travelled abroad for medical attention during his last days. And this has forced them to rethink their governance,” he stated.

Divine advised that after the coronavirus outbreak is completely dealt with, government should start working on our loose healthcare system and other aspects of the country.

As at today, Ghana recorded a total of 52 cases of the coronavirus with 2 deaths.
