The court of appeal has scheduled Wednesday, 26th June to rule on objection to the reconstitution of the panel of justices hearing the appeal by Rev. Kusi Boateng, secretary to the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral.

Rev. Kusi Boateng, Secretary to the Board of Trustees of National Cathedral is challenging the High Court’s ruling on the defamation case against North Tongu Member of Parliament, Okudzeto Ablakwa.

Thaddeus Sory, lead lawyer for the MP filed a counter application against the appeal and objected to the reconstitution of the panel which was chaired by Justice Pamela Koranteng today.

Lawyer Sory’s position was that Justice Dzamefe who chaired the previous panel is no more on the original panel which contradicts the standard practice and undermines a fair trial to his client.

Rev Kusi Boateng is alleged to be the spiritual father of Gertrude Torkorno, the Chief Justice according to lawyer Sory, and will therefore not get a fair trial. Meanwhile counsel for Rev Kusi Boateng, Bobby Banson indicated that his claims aren’t grounded in law.
